STUDY CASTS DOUBT ON ZETIA & VYTORIN

The James Hoyer Law Firm is investigating the results of these drugs on patients. A long awaited study of the cholesterol lowering drugs Zetia and Vytorin raises questions about their effectiveness and the behavior of the pharmaceutical companies that conducted the study. The study shows Zetia failed to help slow the build-up of artery clogging plaque. Vytorin, a combination of Zetia and Zocor, also did not reduce the thickness of plaque lining artery walls.

Experts call the results a major blow to the drug makers, Merck and Schering-Plough Pharmaceuticals. The companies are under criticism for delaying the release of the study for two years, while millions continued to take the drugs. The companies were also criticized recently for withholding information regarding potential liver damage caused by Zetia.
