Lowe's Discrimination Complaints

On August 28, 2003, we filed discrimination complaints with the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission on behalf of eight present and former employees of the Lowe's home improvement store in Winter Haven, Florida. The individuals, who are all African-American, alleged a pattern of racial discrimination in promotions and job assignments by managers. In sworn affidavits, the black employees described how less-qualified and less-experienced white employees received promotions that they had requested. Several of our clients stated they trained white employees who were then promoted ahead of them. Our clients also stated they were forced to clean store bathrooms, a duty they did not see assigned to their white co-workers.
