Position: Associate

Nicole Mayer joined James, Hoyer, Newcomer, Smiljanich & Yanchunis in 2006. Her focus is class action cases. Nicole’s motivation is her desire to fight for the rights of those who have been exploited, taken advantage of or discriminated against.

Prior to joining James Hoyer, Nicole practiced law in the insurance arena at the Tampa law firm of Sponsler, Bennett, Jacobs & Cristal. She also interned for the Honorable Elizabeth Kovachevich in the United States District Court for the Middle District of Florida.

Nicole completed her undergraduate work at the University of Florida (B.S., 2002), where she was a member of Phi Delta Phi and Golden Key National Honor Societies. She received her law degree from Stetson University College of Law (J.D., 2004), where she served as the Marketing Editor for the “Stetson Law Review” and secretary of the Florida Association of Women Lawyers, Stetson Division.  She also studied law abroad at both the University of Granada in Granada, Spain, and the University of Palermo in Buenos Aires, Argentina. She is a member of the Florida Bar.

She contributes time and energy into pro bono projects, cases and organizations such as The Consumer Warning Network (www.consumerwarningnetwork.com ), a non-profit consumer advocacy website. Nicole has presented on student loan law topics on both national television and radio broadcasts, and was a panel participant at the 2009 Rainbow Push Coalition Annual Conference. In her leisure time, Nicole enjoys reading, Pilates, running and spending time with friends and family.
